Recipe poems have a set structure, making them simple and achievable for all abilities. All your pupils need to do is add their ideas. 500g of this, a pinch of that... It's a fantastic opportunity to get creative and have fun with words. Watch their writing confidence grow as they learn how to write a poem.
Your pupils can write their recipe about anyone or anything. They could write about themselves as a fab way of getting to know each other in a new class, you can pick a subject to tie in with your topic, or let them choose!
